Davao City to send biggest delegation to bowling event
DAVAO City will send the biggest delegation to the 29th Federation of Duckpin Bowlers Association of the Philippines (Fedbop) Annual Grand National Duckpin Bowling Championship Tournament slated April 24 to 29 in Iligan City.
Sunday Bowlers Club (SBC) president Emie Orteza said Davao would have eight men's and five women's teams competing in the tournament. All these teams are members of SBC and Davao City Bowlers Association (Daciba).
Orteza and Daciba president Gerry Farin will lead the Davao contingent that is set to defend the men's and women's crowns.
"We swept the women's event, grabbing the first four spots in last year's championships in Koronadal, South Cotabato. We will try to do the same feat this year not just in the women's side but also in the men's category," he said.
Davao took the first three slots in men's event last year.
Over 70 teams will slug it out for honors in the P500,000 bowlfest that will also award trophies to the team and individual winners.
Iligan City Mayor Laurence Cruz will lead the opening rites on Monday after the parade of teams. Fedbop chairman of the board Pete Nugas of Davao and Fedbop president Goldenia Ibay of Cotabato City will also guest in the ceremonies. (MLSA)
