Basas aims big in 9-ball tilt
MARY Ann Basas of Davao City will be campaigning in only her second big tournament in the Enerva International Asian 9-ball Tour Ladies Championship which fires off April 26-28 at Robinson's Gallera in Mandaluyong City.
Basas, who first saw action in the Southeast Asian Games in Manila last year, is still a greenhorn when it comes to international tournament but might pull a surprise in the three-day event.
Joining Basas in the list of Philippine campaigners will be SEAG double gold medal winner Rubilyn Amit and Jhoana Dee. The trio will be up against the best in Asia led by world champion Kim Ga-young.
The meet is organized by Philippine billiarss patron Aristeo "Putch" Puyat and supported by Nature's Best Products Inc. and Solar Sports Entertainment.
The tournament is also santioned by the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports and Billiards and Snookers Congres of the Philippines.
Among the big names coming aside from Ga are Jennifer Chen and Liu Shin-men Liu of Chinese-Taipei, Akimi Kajitani of Japan, Desak Kasih Aryati and Nova Floura Rachmawati of Indonesia.
There will be a qualifying session on April 25 at Robinson's Galleria. The main event is scheduled April 26-28 at the Robinson's Galleria and will be aired live on IBC 13 and Solar Sports.
