Enduro San Mig event to hit Davao By Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan
THE Enduro San Mig Light Adventures 2006 will hit Davao City for the first time on June 10.
Fhillip Castro of the organizing Samahang Enduro bared this during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.
"We are very excited to bring the Mindanao leg here in Davao. It was really a choice between Cagayan de Oro and Davao. But since we have been to Cagayan before, we decided to come to Davao instead because we know you have a lot of very good teams here," Castro said.
He said there was a plan to hold a race in Davao last year but it was postponed.
"At last we can have the Davao race this year. My team in Manila is really looking forward to come here because it's their first time to be in Davao too," Castro said.
The June 10 event, according to him, will be a four to six-hour race around Davao.
It will have the novice category that will guarantee new and exhilarating challenges for the participants.
It will stake P15,000 cash prize and trophy for the champions and P10,000 with trophy for the runner-up.
"This is an open race where anybody from Luzon and Visayas can join. But we will prioritize Davao and Mindanao entries in this competition," he added.
The Davao leg will follow after the Cebu City leg set on May 27 while the Metro Manila leg will get going on July 7 and 8.
Registration is P2,500 inclusive of race insurance and buffet dinner, among others.
