By Rhoda M. Hernandez

POLICE arrested a 23-year-old man accused of killing a member of the Civilian Auxiliary Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) at a basketball court in Marilog District, Davao City, Saturday night.

Police identified the suspect as Randy Laurecio, of Pagan Pequeno in Tamugan, Marilog.

The suspect allegedly shot to death Bonifacio Tecson, who is a resident of the same place, using caliber .38 revolver following an altercation over basketball game at around 4 p.m. on May 13.

But the suspect denied the accusation and pointed to Julito Severa as the one who shot the victim.

Laurecio told police Severa escaped after the incident.

"After the game, we argued on small things. But Tecson went home and got his .22 caliber handgun. He pointed the gun on me. I was trying to grab the gun from him when Don-don passed by and shoot Tecson)," Laurecio said.

The suspect is now detained at the Marilog Police Station and underwent inquest proceedings at the City Prosecution Office Monday morning.
