BCF rules cage loop
THE Beatitudes Christian Fellowship (BCF) beat Only Believe Ministries (OBM), 106-95, in the deciding game to win the Inter-Church Basketball League (ICBL) Mayor's Cup 13th conference at the Almendras Gym Sunday.
The Aroma of Christ Fellowship (ACF) demolished Davao International Baptist Church (DIBC), 105-95, in the battle for third.
BCF, coached by Alex Villanueva, took control of the game with a 9-0 run in the final quarter, scoring mostly from the perimeter area.
Alvin Calatayud sizzled with 25 points to lead scoring for Villanueva's squad while Aldrin Manguhig canned 30 points for OBM's losing cause.
BCF forced a rubber match after pulling off a 96-92 victory over OBM in Game 2. The latter won Game 1, 105-99, in the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP)-sanctioned cagefest.
The winners received trophies during the closing rites including OBM's Sherwin Corbita who was hailed Most Valuable Player (MVP).
ICBL director Pastor Gary Visitacion awarded the trophies after the championship match. He likewise took time to thank the participants, sponsors BAP regional director Regino "Boy" Cua, BAP-BARECOM Referees and the Sports Development t Division of the City Mayor's Office.
The next conference is slated September 9 to November 26.
