Parliamentary gov't can make new leaders
By Barbara Carla R. Quiero

A PARLIAMENTARY form of government can bring out new potential leaders in the country, a member of the charter change advocacy committee (Adcom) said.

This is so because governance will further be strengthened on the local level.

"It will open opportunities that can attract potential talents become officials," Deang said during the Club 888 press conference yesterday at the Marco Polo Hotel.

"You can rise up as a prime minister, member of the parliament, finance minister," Deang said.

In a parliamentary form of government, Deang said, power in the country will be decentralized, allowing cities and provinces to develop on its own.

Meanwhile, he said, the attention of Adcom is making people understand the true purpose of Cha-cha.

"Make people understand because the more a person understand about Charter-change, the more they want it," he said.

According to Deang, there is a great need for the public to understand about Cha-cha, so when plebiscite comes, they will have an informed choice.
