Quiboloy urges faithfuls to watch 'Da Vinci Code'
THE one will Perhaps make Dan Brown smile from ear to ear because the controversial film The Da Vinci Code, an adaptation of his novel, was endorsed by no less than the appointed "Son of God".
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ the Name Above Every name even confidently encouraged his followers all over the world to go to the theaters and watch the film as he smirked at those who are opposed to the showing of the film and tagged them as being weak of faith and religiously insecure.
Like Fr. Sid Mahinay, perhaps one of few the Catholic priests who vocally aired his views about the movie, Quiboloy said that the Da Vinci Code could become a test to the faith of the people.
"Let it come. I am sure that my people's faith will not be shattered by one film. My faith is solid, my people's faith in God is solid. Let it come," Quiboloy said.
The televangelist's endorsement came amid waves of criticisms and oppositions to the showing of the film here. Even the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), known for its religious conservativeness, said that the film deserves a ban because it is anti-religion.
The Palace seemed to have taken a ground with the position of executive secretary Eduardo Ermita who said that he considers the movie blasphemous, something that should not be shown in Philippine theaters.
He then issued an unsolicited advice to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to exercise prudence by not allowing the screening of the film.
The story claims Jesus actually married Mary Magdalene, a union that started a supposed to be secret bloodline. It also exposed how the Catholic Church tried to keep this secret for so long a time that it caused many lives.
But Quiboloy could only care less.
"I don't care whether Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had children. It will never be my issue nor it will shatter my faith in God. It will even double, triple, quadruple my faith in him," Quiboloy said.
"My faith is built by my personal relationship with the father and nothing can destroy it. Those who are against the film only show that they are not so sure about their faith. They are not confident about it that they think it will be destroyed by this film.
This only goes to show too that even if the Philippines is one Christian country, the faith of the people is not too secure yet," Quiboloy said.
Quiboloy is considered as one of the famous Filipino preachers today. A televangelist, Quiboloy travels all over the world to spread his preaching.
Thousands of his followers get in touch with Quiboloy through his regular radio and television programs beamed directly into their houses. His television program here is oftentimes aired live and transmitted simultaneously to different parts of the world. The group's complex in Catitipan, Buhangin district, houses a state of the art broadcast studio. (JMT)
