Barrera calls Manny 'one-style' fighter
AFTER the terrible beating he got from Manny Pacquiao in November of 2003, Mexican warrior Marco Antonio Barrera still refuses to give credit to the Filipino fighter.
Whether he was honestly telling it or not, no one really knows. But one thing is clear: The ghost of that defeat still hounds Barrera.
"Pacquiao is a one-style fighter," Barrera said through an interpreter moments after scoring a tough 12-round decision against Rocky Juarez to keep his World Boxing Council super featherweight crown Saturday in Los Angeles.
The Mexican was bloodied and fought with sheer determination against Juarez, who rocked him early on with good left and right hands.
Barrera was asked after the fight who is the better fighter, Pacquiao or Juarez.
Barrera, who avoided a rematch with Pacquiao after suffering that humiliating 11th-round TKO defeat in San Antonio, answered: "Juarez is a very good fighter." (CRAM)
