Paradise to hold taekwondo tourney
THE Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort (PIPBR) Taekwondo Challenge will kick off on Sunday.
"This tournament is open for all novice and advance taekwondo students. This will give them a venue to apply what they they have learned in their summer program," tournament director Giovanni delos Santos said.
Delos Santos said the one-day event also aims to prepare the jins in future Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA)-sanctioned tournaments.
"We are really looking forward to produce more kiddie champions in the future just like in the recent New Face National Taekwondo Championships 2006 held in Manila," delos Santos recently said.
The delos Santos-coached taekwondo team hauled a total of two gold medals, one silver and five bronzes in the New Face event.
Medals and certificates will be up for grabs in the PIPBR competition that expects close to a 100 players.
The tournament will be a major attraction in the world-class resort this weekend.
Visiting locals and tourists alike crowded the playing venue in the inaugural staging of the meet last year. (MLSA)
