25 Rody Project finalists bared

THE 25 finalists of the Recognizing Outstanding Davao Youth (Rody) Project were awarded with certificates from the City Government Thursday at the City Hall conference room.

The certificates were given during the I-Speak press forum by Rody Project organizer Oscar Casaysay and Davao City Anti-Smoking Task Force head Domilyn C. Villareiz.

Casaysay said more than 100 youths applied for the Rody Project but only 43 passed initial screening.

The 43 finalists, he said, underwent personality test, gender sensitivity test, and several others.

Casaysay said after the tests, 25 finalists were left.

Among the finalists is Paolo Martin L. Saberon, 21, a fourth year Accountancy student in one of the universities in the city.

According to him, the process of screening the finalists was different from that of last year's.

"Today, the process is like the TV series 'The Apprentice' wherein the finalists are given tasks and those who cannot accomplish the given tasks, fails and will be eliminated," Casaysay said during the press conference.

In June, Casaysay said the finalists will be deployed at the Traffic Management Center (TMC) where they will be working in selected city streets as TMC traffic personnel.

The judge on the task will be TMC chief Celso Gempesaw and his group.

Every month, a new task will be given and those who will fail will be eliminated until the Big Four will be left.

In December, Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte will award the top winner in time for the opening of the Pasko Fiesta. (BRQ)
