Traffic group needs 120 more personnel
THE Traffic Management Center disclosed that it needs 120 additional traffic personnel.
Traffic Management Center chief Celso Gempesaw said they are already preparing the request for an additional budget to the local finance committee for the uniform and salary of the personnel should Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte approve their request.
He said about P10 million more is needed should the city hire the additional 120 traffic group personnel under job orders.
"We recognized the lack of manpower and so whether the request will be approved or not we will request for an additional 120 personnel," Gempesaw said.
Gempesaw said the additional personnel would be deployed in street intersections in the city.
"Especially those intersections right now where our office has not assigned any traffic aide," he said.
Gempesaw said the need of additional manpower could be attributed to the tremendous increase of population in the city, which also resulted to the increase in vehicles.
According to him, the number of motor vehicles in the city increased by around 18 percent this year.
As of today, Traffic Management Center has 350 personnel. (BRQ)
