Bikefest fires off June 17

IT’S all systems go for the 47th Araw ng Cotabato Bikefest on June 17 and 18 in Cotabato City.

Federation of Off-Road Cycling Enthusiasts (Force) president Dominic Carpio, who is supporting the competition, said the race will feature a mountain bike downhill event on June 17 and duathlon challenge the following day.

The downhill race organized by the Cotabato All-Terrain Bikers Association (Catba) headed by its president Abdulrahman Chio will have an open expert and novice categories.

The duathlon event will feature 10 categories: open expert, jun-sen, veterans, executive, beginners A and B, touring A, B and C and ladies. Participants in this race will have to undergo a four-kilometer (km) run, 25 km bike and 3km run challenge.

"Mindanao riders may join the tournament that stakes cash prizes and trophies to the top three finishers in each category," Carpio said.

Carpio said medals will be awarded to the fourth to 10th placers.

Registration fee is P300 inclusive of race packets and meals.

Interested parties may only sign up until June 17.
