Age-old traditions By Ana Felicia Dulay
PRETTY girls all in resplendent gowns. It was a sight to behold at the SM City Davao last May 28 as befitting traditions of Filipinos that date from as far back as the Spanish era.
The Santacruzan Procession and Pageant Finals was one of the highlights of the Fiesta Festival, the annual summer event of SM City Davao and the City Tourism Operations Office.
The Santacruzan Gown Design Competition was open to all fashion designers all over Mindanao and worn by his or her Sagala candidate during the finals.
Parading around the SM City compound with their consorts, the Sagala candidates were simply stunning with their handcrafted gowns.
The winners of the Santacruzan Gown Design Competition received P20,000 and trophy for the first place; P10,000 and plaque for the second place; P5,000 and plaque for the third place and another seven winners for consolation prizes of P2,000 and certificates.
