QT Marketing tops PRO Active chess

THE National Master Jonathan Tan-led QT Marketing swept the two-game championship round against Multicar A to rule the PRO Active Chess Team Tournament Sunday at the Spazio, Gaisano Mall of Davao.

QT Marketing scored three points in both matches as against Multicar A's one-point output.

Tan halved the point with Multicar A team captain NM Kaharudin Tayuan on board 1 in the final match while QT Marketing's Jimmy Dano defeated Sammy Yu on board 2.

QT board 3 player Harrison Maamo drew with US Master Peter Tidoy as teammate Reynaldo de Guzman pulled off a win over Dharim Bacus on board 4.

Multicar A settled for the runner-up honors while Conie Rose Realty Co. placed third. Fortune Life finished fourth in the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP)-sanctioned two-day meet.

Conie Rose, composed of NM Elwin Retanal, Henry Lopez, brothers Arnel and Ariel Aton, also whipped Fortune Life in their two-game battle, 2-0, to place third.

Fotune Lufe was bannered by Carlo Doctolero, Bienvenido Tipay and Roland Reyes, among others.

QT and Multicar A arranged a titular clash after besting Conie Rose and Fortune Life, respectively, in the two-game pre-championship round.

QT overwhelmed Conie Rose, 7.0-1.0, while Multicar A conquered Fortune Life, 5.5-2.5.

The LA Kids, Multicar B, Deged Enterprises, Kilometro 90 of Compostela Valley, Do¤a Pilar Chess Players, Tagum City, Barangay Hizon Sr. Chess Club, Island Garden City of Samal chess team and Remco Panabo also competed in the event that gave away cash prizes to the winners. (MLSA)
