Trade fair to help improve local SMEs
THE participation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to the National Trade Fair (NTF) next year will open up a number of opportunities for them, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Southern Mindanao said.
The NTF is an annual gathering of entrepreneurs throughout the country spearheaded by the DTI and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (Citem).
The NTF 2007, which is slated on March 14 to 18, 2007 at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, will feature various activities that will help Davao region's SMEs hone their capacities as entrepreneurs while improving the quality of their products.
Approximately 200 booths will showcase their products at the exhibit area of the venue while the other 200 will go into selling.
Among the products that will be included during the NTF are Christmas and other holiday decors, fashion accessories, furniture, garden accessories, gifts, toys, and housewares, home decors, leather goods, stationeries, fresh and processed food, and organic and natural goods.
DTI regional director for Southern Mindanao Merly Cruz said the trade fair will be a good chance for SMEs to get applicable know-how in improving their produce and creations since a product development seminar will be conducted by a designer from Citem before the trade fair proper.
Aside from the exhibit and product development seminar, there will also be a business matching activity between the SMEs and exhibitors and buyers from the Philippines and other countries.
