Education dep't looks into 'gun-poking' report

THE Department of Education (DepEd) Southern Mindanao has ordered an investigation into the alleged gun-poking incident involving a school security guard and a high school student inside a private school last year.

DepEd regional director Diamar Kadon said he ordered the investigation the moment he heard about the incident from news reports.

"As of now, it's under investigation," Kadon said Tuesday at the Kapehan sa SM.

Kadon said there is a legal committee from DepEd to do the investigation and that he hopes that everything will be clarified once the results are out.

"If found guilty, we will be giving the security guard either suspension, or dismissal or criminal charge," Kadon said.

Clemente "Jun" Neri, a security guard of Seabren Security Agency, posted at the Royal Valley Academy, allegedly pointed a gun at John Ryan Ayco, erstwhile fourth year student, after a heated altercation sometime in August last year.

The incident was seen by at least five other students who were scared to come out in the open.

Ayco, however, confirmed the incident.

Neri, the Seabrean management, and even school officials have insisted there was no such incident. (BRQ)
