Davao City riders favored in Cotabato
DAVAO City riders are expected to be the heavy favorites when the 47th Araw ng Cotabato Bikefest unreels in Cotabato City this Saturday.
The likes of Mindanao Friendship Games gold medallist Hilario Ladra, Dexter Nonato, and Joel Urdaneta will compete in the open expert division.
Davao Pobre Bikers Association (Dapoba) president Dominic Carpio, who also heads the Federation of Off-Road Cycling Enthusiasts (Force), however, said they are still looking for available transportation to ferry them to the venue.
Ladra recently put up a decent finish in the Tour of Camarines Sur 2006.
The two-day Cotabato event will feature a mountain bike downhill competition with open expert and novice categories on Saturday.
A duathlon challenge, featuring 10 categories, will be held on Sunday. It will have an open expert, jun-sen, veterans, executive, beginners A and B, touring A, B and C and ladies categories.
The duathlon event will cover four-kilometer run, 25km bike and 3km run challenge.
Organizer Cotabato All-Terrain Bikers Association (Catba) welcomes participants from all over Mindanao. Registration fee is P300 inclusive of race packets and meals.
