Gonzalez, a Palarong Pambansa multi-gold medal winner, led the charge for the Costland Davao Swim Team (CDST), which finished the meet with a total of 11 golds, seven silvers, and nine bronzes.

Gonzalez, a first year high school at the Ateneo de Davao University, captured the golds in the boys 12 years old 100-meter and 200m backstroke, 100m and 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, 200m individual medley (IM) and 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle events.

His cousin, Celina Gonzalez, and fellow Atenean Alyanna Malabanan added one gold each.

Celina topped the girls 12 200m butterfly then settled for silvers in 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly, 200 IM and 50m and 400m freestyle. She got bronzes in 100m and 200m freestyle.

Malabanan, on her part, captured the gold in girls 13 100m butterfly. She took the silvers in 200m backstroke and 200 IM with bronzes in 100m backstroke and 100m, 200m, 400m freestyle.

CDST bet Domenico Venuti salvaged a bronze in the boys 14 200m backstroke, while teammate Bea Nazareno won bronzes in girls 12 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle.

The rest of the 20-member CDST contingent will see action this weekend for the junior and seniors open divisions.

The swimfest is part of the sportsfest spearheaded by the Philippine Olympic Committee in celebration of the World Olympic Day founding anniversary.
