Network to set up wide screens for Pacquiao-Larios fight
By Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan

FOUR wide screens will be put up in four Davao City malls for the viewing public who want to catch the Mano-a-Mano super featherweight fight of Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines against Oscar Larios of Mexico on July 2 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Television network ABS-CBN, organizer of the Pacquiao fight, will put up the screens in Gaisano Mall of Davao, Gaisano South Citimall, NCCC Mall and Victoria Plaza to allow shoppers to enjoy the fight on a delayed basis.

"The telecast in these malls will be slightly delayed because it will be the same ABS-CBN coverage viewers can watch in their television sets at home," ABS-CBN Davao executive Andy Rara said during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.

SM City Davao, however, will feature a live telecast of the fight via pay-per-view.

Rara said three preliminary bouts will be featured in the telecast before the main event.

"The preliminary bouts might start by 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. The fights of Jimrex Jaca, Gerry Peñalosa and Boom Boom Bautista might be aired before the Pacquiao-Larios clash that will start around 1 p.m.," Rara said.

Aside from ABS-CBN, The Filipino Channel and HBO will also air Mano-a-Mano.
