Trade dep't to help boost SME competitiveness
THE small and medium enterprises (SMEs) must be "proactive competitors" in the world trading arena, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Director for Southern Mindanao Merly M. Cruz said.
The DTI-Center for Industrial Competitiveness (CIC) will embark on a one-day Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Roadshow and Symposium on the Proactive Programs for Competitiveness on July 12, from 9am to 4 p.m., at the Royal Mandaya Hotel.
Cruz said this activity will address the need to prepare companies and organizations, particularly the SMEs, take the challenge of stiff competition in the world market.
The DTI-CIC, the implementing agency of the PQA program, has been doing roadshows all over the country to assist local organizations, especially the SMEs, compete in the global market by helping them improve their business performance whether or not they intend to apply for the award.
Through the PQA advocacy, companies and organizations regardless of size, sector, and maturity will adopt the PQA criteria and commit themselves to a culture of excellence and continuing self-development.
As a result, they implement quality and productivity -- enhancing practices, management systems, plans, and programs.
Cruz said SMEs should take advantage of this opportunity especially that the registration is free of charge.
