Davao jins eye 10 golds
DAVAO City jins are targeting 10 to 12 gold medals when the 8th Mindanao Taekwondo Championships kicks off today at the South Cotabato Sports and Cultural Center.
The Davao Taekwondo Center, according to Jun-Jun Te, will have six to seven potential gold medallists.
"I think the Davao Taekwondo Extreme will also have almost the same number of gold haulers," Te said during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.
Te, however, downplayed Davao's chances of copping the over-all title since the Philippine Army 11th FSSU may not field entries as it is geared at sending players to the National Age-Group Taekwondo Championships.
"We really stand a good chance for the championship if the PA team will send a full delegation. But it would be to Davao's advantage if they will play in the national event so the city can also be represented," Te said.
Tacurong and Marbel bets along with General Santos are among the top teams to reckon with in the one-day competition sanctioned by the Philippine Taekwondo Association. (MLSA)
