Perez tops dartfest
IAN Perez of Marbel, South Cotabato trounced the best players in the local dart scene to crown himself the Open singles champion in the 2nd Congressman Prospero "Boy" Nograles Cup-Casino Filipino-158th San Pedro Cathedral Patronal Feast last July 1 at the Mantex Dart Station in Davao City.
The victory was huge for Perez, who was pitted against the cream of the crop of Davao darts, but deleted the underdog tag and went on to stun his rivals.
"It was a tough competition wherein I met the best Davao City darters and luck was on my side during the three crucial games all in decider sets," said Perez, who is now based in Davao.
Sonny Balagat ended up second while Tata Ceros and Boy Gludo shared third place.
Sharing the limelight with Perez were Joj Barellano and Pepet Quillope, who took the doubles title, and the D&L Automotive Center, which captured the team event.
The Nograles darsfest, which offered a total prize of P43,000, was hosted by the Alpha Phi Omega ng Davaw alumni Association andf supported by Robson's Dart Craft.
