Mindanao Trade Expo goes to Manila
AT LEAST 200 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from all over Mindanao are expected to participate in this year's Mindanao Trade Expo (MTE), slated on August 8 to 13 in SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila.
These SMEs are exporters, market consolidators, buying agents of local and international retail chains, importers, travel tour, hotel, and restaurant operators, and manufacturers of various goods.
Among the products that will be showcased during the six-day exposition are gifts, toys, and house wares (GTH), furniture and furnishings, home textiles, fashion accessories, fine pieces of jewelry, fresh and processed food, and tourism services. The aforementioned prospective exhibitors represent the trade, industry, agriculture, tourism, services, and technology sectors.
Organized by the MTE Foundation, Inc. and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Southern Mindanao, the exposition aims to promote the products of the island-region while helping the SMEs create their own market niche.
DTI regional director for Southern Mindanao Merly M. Cruz said staging the event in Manila is one strategy wherein local SMEs can have an opportunity to find their business partners from the said area.
"This is really a good venue for our SMEs to widen their market reach. And once they are able to expand their market, they will surely improve their business further," she said.
MTE has been one of the major exhibits of the island-region that continuously assist SMEs not just in broadening their markets but as well as in developing their products.
