'Jewel' back by popular demand
"JEWEL in the Palace," the greatest Asian phenomenon and one of GMA Network's highest-rating Koreanovelas, returned to Philippine TV screens starting July 10, by popular demand.
This would be the much-awaited chance of its countless fans to relive the well loved Jang Geum's (Lee Young Ae) compelling and inspiring true story, particularly the eventful pilot episode, which tells of her parents' individual misfortunes and how it brought the two of them together, a union which would bring to this world the woman who would later become Korea's first female Royal Physician.
Jang Geum would once again make viewers laugh and cry, as they accompany her once again to a beautiful yet extremely challenging journey filled with conspiracies, intrigues, and danger. Be enamored once again by the mysterious prophecy about three women that started it all.
The first woman: You will kill her, but it was not your will. The second woman: You will save her but she will die because of you. The third woman: You will die because of her, but she will be destined to save others.
See how the mischievous yet witty young Jang Geum (played by the adorable Jeong-Eun Cho who visited the country earlier this year) trained to become a court lady in the Royal Kitchen, then go on to become a nurse and eventually a well-respected and admired physician but not without many adversaries along the way; including her ambitious and bitter rival, GeumYoung (Hong Ri-na), and her cruel aunt, Lady Choi (Gyeon Mi-ri).
In spite of the cunning and ruthlessness of her enemies, Jang Geum did have friends and mentors who looked after her and guided her along her difficult path to greatness. Witness once again the touching friendship between Jang Geum's mother and Lady Han (played by the beautiful Mi-Kyung Yang, who was also in the country recently), who later became Jang Geum's wise and compassionate mentor and staunch protector.
And experience once again how love will grow and deepen between Jang Geum and Captain Jung Ho Min (Ji Jin Hee), an admired military man who will fall in love with her for her wisdom and passion for learning.
However, problems arise in their love affair when another man, Korea's King Jungjong (Im Ho), figures in the picture.
Korea's No. 1 Drama for 2004, which swept the rest of Asia and even US off its feet will once again have viewers singing along with the sweet love theme "Alipin" by Shamrock. The greatest Asian phenomenon is the best story ever told, and it returns to Pinoy TV screens!
"Jewel in the Palace, By Popular Demand" airs weeknights, replacing "Good Luck" before 24 Oras on GMA-7.
