Councilor slams TV network, snubs reporter
CITY Councilor Amilbangsa Manding castigated a television reporter before turning his back on her, accusing the television network the reporter belongs to of "unfair reporting" for dragging his name to a crime involving his nephew.
"That's why you now rank number 3 because you are unfair in your reporting. The people are no longer watching your programs," Manding ranted as he turned his back on the ABS-CBN team who requested for an interview during the City Council session last Tuesday.
Manding accused the network of "unfair reporting" when he was asked to comment about the involvement of his nephew in the shooting of a gang member and an innocent civilian on Boulevard last July 2.
Dimple Lupina, the ABS-CBN reporter who wanted to interview Manding, said they were shocked by the councilor's hostile reaction.
"He told us to join the police force, instead, because we keep on asking questions," Lupina said.
The reporter said they had been "chasing" Manding for the past days to get his reaction on the incident involving his nephew who is a civilian volunteer in their area.
Manding's newphew, whom police has asked not to identify yet, is the suspect in the shooting incident along Quezon Boulevard that killed a teenage gang member and a woman who was just a passerby.
Lupina said they would have not minded if Manding just begged off to be interviewed.
Manding's reaction was caught on tape and was aired over TV Patrol Mindanao Tuesday afternoon. (BOT)
