Pawnshop worker sued for stealing
A CASHIER of a pawnshop is facing charges before the Regional Trial Court for allegedly stealing cash amounting to P74,924 from the pawnshop on Saturday.
Sued for qualified theft is Richel Padamong, 18, cashier of Kimsan Pawnshop in its Crossing Matina branch.
Prosecutor Leo T. Madrazo resolved the case based on the complaint of Eva Yanong, owner and manager of the Kimsan Pawnshop.
In her affidavit, Yanong said that on July 8, she was informed by her employees Thelma Yting and Perlita Fedelis that they suspected Padamong to be involved in an anomaly after they discovered that a pawned jewelry did not pass appraisal.
Yting, appraiser of the pawnshop, executed an affidavit claiming she and Fedelis opened an envelope with a pawned jewelry and found out it was fake.
Yting brought to Yanong 16 other sealed brown envelopes, which are supposed to contain pawned jewelry, that were all transacted by Padamong, and found that all items inside were fake.
Yanong, on the other hand, said that from the 16 recovered pawn papers, Padamong pocketed P247,000 from May to July 2006.
She added that she further found out that Padamong took P74,924 from their July 8 earnings when the accused only turned over P193,205.25 from their P268,139.75 earnings that same day.
Yanong said that only P35,000 of P74,924 was recovered from Padamong's house.
The prosecution recommended a bail of P50,000 for Padamong's temporary liberty.
Padamong is now detained at the Talomo police precinct. (JGRS)
