Senior citizen's agency has no fund to operate
THE City has created an office to take care of its elderly, but that's as far as the elderly can expect, as the office created does not have any funds to operate not even for paper to write on.
Office of the Senior Citizen's Affair (Osca) officer in charge Mary Rufeltruz said since its creation, the office has been scrounging around for funds just to operate daily.
They are in fact just depending on the City Social Services and Development Office for their office supplies and they get some financial assistance from Councilor Leonardo Avila III, who chairs the office.
"No budget has been allocated for the office so we depended on the P100 payment for lost Osca IDs," Rufeltruz said in an interview Friday.
Just recently, this meager source of income was likewise stopped as some senior citizens, who are already hard up, have asked that they not be required to pay for lost cards.
"They requested that it be stopped," Rufeltruz said. (BRQ)
