Bare 12th So Kim Cheng awardees

ORGANIZERS recently bared the list of honorees for the 12th So Kim Cheng Sports Foundation Awards Night on July 22 at the Grand Regal Hotel.

Chess International Master (IM) Oliver Dimakiling and 29th National Milo Marathon women's champion Joan Banayag are named Male and Female Athlete of the Year.

The Hall of Fame awardees are 2005 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalists Sheila Mae Perez, Zardo Domenios, Ceseil Domenios, Ryan Fabriga and Niño Carog.

The outstanding athletes are: Teodoro Nonato, Jr., Philip Ocon and Juvelyn Miranda (athletics), Katherine Kim Mayono and Julie Pearl Gimena (badminton), Denver Largo (baseball), Samigue Eman (basketball), Henji Wee (bodybuilding), Jelly Ann Vecino (duckpin bowling), Victorio Saludar III and Froilan Saludar (boxing), John Ray Batucan and Rowelyn Joy Acedo (chess), Edwin Paragoso and Kenneth Guinoo (cycling), Allen Relampagos and Ruth Dugaduga (judo), Cecil Rule (softball), Jose Joaquin Gonzalez, Carlo Rodriguez and Anna Celina Gonzalez (swimming), Gil Ablanque and Jocelyn Enaro (table tennis), Dolly Peñaflorida (volleyball), Denise Bunayog and Jeanette Ortiz (dancesports), Abraham Castañares and Ruvyli June Birondo (karatedo), and Jessicah Haro and Ralph Kevin Barte (lawn tennis).

Citations will be given to the University of Mindanao (UM) baseball and women's softball teams, Prisaa athletics team, Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) women's volleyball team, Representative Prospero "Boy" Nograles, Sunday Bowlers Club, Daciba Blumen Team, Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) regional director Regino "Boy" Cua, UM Wildcats basketball headcoach Manny Nitorreda, Holy Child School of Davao basketball coach Ildefonso Cunanan, Davao athletics coach Emilio Lacanaria, Jr. and Japanese judo patron Toshiro Yamashita.

The recipients for the posthumous awards are Divino Lao (track and field), volleyball referee Angelo Peteros, Jose Salamanca and Captain Antonio Arbole of cycling. (MLSA)
