Olivar, Orteza triumph
JONAX Olivar and Sunday Bowlers cub (SBC) president Emie Orteza shared honors in the SBC Bowler of the Week tournament at the Fairlanes Bowling Center Sunday night.
Olivar took the class A title after hitting 273 pinfalls. He beat James Bardon and Dodong Birondo who placed second and third, respectively. Bardon rolled 241 pins while Birondo struck for 240.
In class B, Orteza scored 233 for the championship prize while Benjie Boncato got 224 for the runner-up honors. Lawyer Pete Nugas came in close third with 222.
The champions received cash prizes and earned slots to the Bowler of the Month tournament.
Orteza said Monday that it's all set for the 21st Kadayawan sa Davao Open Bowling Tournament 2006 slated to open on Saturday night at the same venue.
The bowlfest features bracket A for private and government teams while bracket B is for commercial teams.
A total cash prize of P46,000 will be given away in the event sponsored by Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William "Butch" Ramirez. (MLSA)
