HCDC judokas down UM
THE Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) beat perennial foe, University of Mindanao (UM), for the over-all title of the 1st HCDC Invitational Judo Championships at the HCDC Gym over the weekend.
The HCDC judokas salvaged a total of eight gold medals, five silvers and nine bronzes while UM took six golds, five silvers and two bronzes.
Sta. Ana got two golds courtesy of Ma. Fred Romano Escartin and Janina Garde.
Escartin stunned UM bet Jose Miguel Briosos in men's extra lightweight while Garde beat Roselyn Bernales in women's extra and lightweight category.
Davao City PRISAA gold medallist Albert Ignacio and Juanito Estimada led the cast for UM champions with the former dominating the super extra and extra lightweight crown while the latter ruled the men's lightweight event.
UM's Mark Cameros, Jerald Eugenio and Michael Flores and Brandon Mosqueda swept the top three spots in men's extra lightweight while teammates Brandon Mosqueda, Clark Tare and Eddie Siasico III finished first, second and third in the lightweight.
HCDC got golds through Cris Json Gambong (men's middle weight) Hanna Barquin (women's heavy weight), Carlot Valindez (women's light weight), Vanessa Tac-an (women's Half heavy and heavy weight), Emmanuel Belo (boy's extra light weight) and Ramon Aquino (boy's heavy weight). (MLSA) |
