BIR 'resibo' raffle promo draw on Aug. 1
BUREAU of Internal Revenue (BIR) Southern Mindanao Director Marcelinda Omila-Yap has instructed all district offices in the region to widen the information dissemination campaign of the BIR's "Premyo sa Resibo" raffle draw to create awareness among consumers and end-users on the importance of demanding officials receipts to increase the government's tax collection.
Revenue district officer Jose Eric Furia, in an interview during the regular radio program "BIR ug Ikaw" over dxRP Radyo ng Bayan anchored by Dang Jumala, said the first raffle draw is scheduled on August 1.
Furia, together with Susan Tusoy, RDO assessment chief; Grace Pagaran; Beverlie Montebon; Arlene Singco; Clea Marie Pimentel; and Fely Guyo, said this year, the BIR has revived its electronic raffle of receipts promo to plug leakages in revenue collections by encouraging consumers to habitually ask for receipts every time they buy goods and services.
The first weekly draw will be on August 1 to coincide with the BIR's 102nd anniversary celebration. There will be five winners of P1 million each in the first draw. The response for sending of text-entries is midnight of Monday before the draw.
The drawing of the winning raffle entry numbers will be done electronically and will be televised live on scheduled draw dates.
To join the promo, all consumers has to do is to send text message to 9777 (for Smart, Talk & Text and Addict Mobile subscribers) containing the taxpayer identification number (TIN) of the professional/business establishments who issued the receipt, receipt number and amount.
Format is: PSR<*><*> Example: PSR l20778899*12345*l89.20 and you will hear an acknowledgement message.
Furia said BIR wants to provide an incentive for taxpayers who demand for receipts. This simple act alone could earn government billions of pesos.
For more details, call 227-1833 or visit the BIR nearest you. The revival of the "resibo" raffle draw was made possible through the Bureau's partnership with Pagcor, Philweb Corp and Smart Telecommunications. (Press release)
