1,500 councilors here for meeting
ABOUT 1,500 city and municipal councilors will converge in Davao city to attend the Philippine Councilors' League in Mindanao convention, said Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang Tuesday.
Dayanghirang said the 1,500 councilors come from 420 municipalities and cities in Mindanao and will stay in the city from August 10 to 12.
He said Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will be the main speaker during the event, adding that the mayor will tackle this year's theme, which is "Mindanaoans for a Stronger Mindanao."
He said that other than the city mayor, Commission on Elections Commissioner Benjamin Abalos, Environment Secretary Angelo Reyes, Congressman Boy Nograles, and Senator Francis Pangilinan will be among the speakers during the three-day event.
Dayanghirang said the city's tourism industry will benefit greatly from the holding of the convention in Davao city. (BRQ)
