Kadayawan bikefest gets support By Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan
THE Emperador Brandy has thrown its support to the Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Criterium Race sa Kadayawan, which fires off August 12.
Salvador Paholio Jr. of the organizing Samahang Siklista Kooperatiba ng Dabaw (SSikad) Tuesday said they are happy that Rod Aguiling of Emperador is backing their race.
Paholio said the support coming from Emperador is a welcome respite after a regular sponsor of cycling events backed out.
The race will have an open elite category and a masters 40 years old and above event.
The race will start at the back of the City Hall building along A. Pichon Street, formerly Magallanes Street, going to Rizal, Legazpi and back to origin.
There will be 30 laps for the open elite and 10 laps for the masters.
Cash prizes are up for grabs in the race presented by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office.
The PhilCycling-sanctioned event is a free registration race. But participants are required to submit 1X1 pictures to be affixed in their Philcycling membership forms.
Out-of-town bets are expected to put up a stiff challenge to hometown bets.
