Pops sizzles: DJs Torch, Ann man the booth
By Nelson C. Bagaforo

I WENT to Pops last Saturday and it was one of the best nights out for a long time. The music, drinks, and food were just satisfying, as Davao City's bar people filled the place, enjoying a hot party that lasted until the wee hours of the morning.

Partyphiles that night were treated to a wide selection of House music provided by Davao City's top bar deejay DJ Torch and one of Manila's coolest, the sultry DJ Ann.

With the two alternately manning the booth, playing their unique style of cross genre dance floor beats, the time had passed that night without a single second of boredom. With their own experience in dance bar deejaying, they can put still on their crowd.

The place turned out hotter as the crowd getting bigger and bigger, engaging in a non-stop dancing to the latest sound and the deejays' own mix of House music.

This type of music appeared to have captured the heart and soul of the city's young and not-so-old alike, as shown by the huge and mixed crowd of college students and young professionals who flocked the place that Saturday night.

The place overflowed not only with drinks, but also with people who just wanted to party and unwind from a busy and tiring week.

All these can only happen at Pops, a posh two-level dance/music bar at Wheels and More compund in Bajada. The place has indeed become a favorite hangout. But what makes Pops different from all other party places in the city is its own type of music.

Pops is the only party place in the city with a regular deejay -- DJ Torch -- who plays his own mix of House music from Tuesday to Saturday.

DJ Torch's love affair with house music and the genres that emerge from it, in fact, will also bring him to prominent entertainment venues in the nation's capital where he will play, alongside with the country's top deejays.
