Demolition of burnt school building soon
THE burnt old school building at the Palma Gil Elementary School will be demolished soon to give way to the construction of a new building following the recent release of funds, said Davao City Schools Division superintendent Gloria Labor Thursday.
The City Government, through the General Services Office, will be initiating the bidding process, she said.
"We are not only looking for contractors that will demolish the burned school building but as well as those that will construct the new building," added Labor.
Labor said the planning for the new building is being done by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the City Engineer's Office (CEO).
"The master plan is already subjected to review and eventually approval by the DPWH and the CEO. It will be bid out and bidding will also take time because we also need constructors who are really competent for the work," Labor said at the Ugnayan sa Royal Mandaya.
Labor said there were no problems with the funding since the money that will fund the project is already available both from the national and city government.
The city has already released more than P15 million to include the demolition cost and the Department of Education with its P8.5 million initial allocation. (BRQ)
