According to the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII), among the foreign exhibitors that placed reservations are the US Embassy and Federal Express.

Duerme said they also expect more US foreign businesses to join the exhibit just like in 2005 when some 30 US-based companies participated.

He said with P82 million sales (book sales included) generated last year, they are targeting this year an increase of 25 percent as against the figure in 2005.

But Duerme added they were not able to follow up what went through with the book sales.

Comparative total sales generated during Date in 2003 accounted for P36 million in sales, 2004 with P55.5 million (with 55 percent over 2003), and 2005 with P82 million (or 32 percent increase from the previous year).

He said while last year's crowd drawer was on real property and agriculture they would expect technology to dominate as the best seller this year.

Cris Arietta, Date 2006 chair of logistics, said that there will be several exhibitors on technology and PLDT already had signified although they are open for other information and communication technology exhibitors.

He said that because of continuous innovation, they had been attracting more of the industry to come in just like what is happening in Subic and Clark.

Duerme meanwhile said with Date 2006 theme "Davao Goes Global," they want more industries to make business here.

He added that they have to innovate and improve, as there will be exhibitors from food manufacturers, poultry products and ICT.

Duerme said that part of the activities aside from the exhibits on Date 2006 are business matching, round table discussions on global opportunities, product and service presentations, raffle promo, jobs fair, trainings and seminars from DCCCII, Department of Agriculture and Department of Science and Technology.

There will also be Mindanao Investment Forum and World Trade Organization Forum to be spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Date 2006 is slated from September 15 to 17 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
