Rizada shines in PBA rookie camp
By Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan

DAVAO City-born Ryan Joseph Rizada, who sizzled with 22 points as the Red Team suffered a 98-99 defeat at the hands of Yellow Team, admitted they need to be more aggressive in their next game in the ongoing 2006 PBA Rookie Camp at the Philsports Arena.

"Sayang talaga. We lost by just one point. Our team lacks something. We need a point guard. But we really just have to be aggressive in both ends of the floor," Rizada said.

The Red squad was set to play the Green team as of Tuesday.

Rizada, who was with the champion teams Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws in the UAAP and Magnolia in PBL, said he expects himself to step up more in their future games.

"I need to be more aggressive in both offense and defense," the former Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Blue Knights cager told Sun.Star Tuesday.

Rizada said most PBA coaches were around to witness their game since their assistant coaches were handling the teams competing.

Ricky Dandan of Air21 coached the Red Team in its debut game and was also set to coach Red's second game.

"The assistant coaches will rotate. Our team will have another coach in our third game," Rizada said.

He said they did not feel any nervousness playing in the presence of the PBA coaches, adding, "They (coaches) already know our skills and capabilities."

"They're looking at attitude and if we fit into the system of their teams," Rizada added.
