Trade department goes online
THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Soccsksargen now goes interactive as it harnesses the accessibility provided by both the Internet and text messaging.
"We want to give consumers a medium of data access where they can verify outright whether a certain sales stratagem or price reduction scheme has a permit issued without the need to go to DTI office or make a call," DTI Regional Director Ibrahim K. Guiamadel said.
Guiamadel said this accessibility to information from DTI is most convenient for those who have questions about existing promotions, especially those who doubt whether such promotional offers are for real and are not intended to rip them off.
"Our field offices and even the regional office of DTI Region 12 have been receiving inquiries as to the legality or validity of various sales promotion activities conducted within the region," he said. Now, these people could not just call during office hours, they can also log in at the DTI website or text them.
On the website, a visitor of www.consumer12.net can click on the link marked "Sales Promo" and immediately see what are the latest sales promotions that have been issued permits by the DTI.
The information, however, is limited only to permits issued in the cities of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Koronadal, Tacurong and General Santos and provinces of Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, North Cotabato and South Cotabato.
A consumer can also know if a sales promo passed the evaluation of DTI or report a bogus sales gimmick to the DTI.
What the Globe and Touch Mobile subscribers simply need to do is just text DTIREPORTSP and send to 2806. For more info, they may visit DTI E-Text System Info Board in the www.consumer12.net.
