Committee supports exemption of Kadayawan ad fees

THE City Council committee on finance, ways and means and appropriations has favorably recommended granting exemption to Kadayawan sa Davao Foundation, Inc.

This after Kadayawan sa Davao Foundation, Inc. president Valentine Dotimas-Huab requested that they be exempted from fees levied by the city on all banners, streamers and buntings to be hanged by the Kadayawan Festival Executive Committee for its sponsors on the streets, parks and other public places.

During the regular council session on Tuesday, the City Council approved under suspended rules, the committee report of City Councilor Bonifacio E. Militar recommending that a resolution be passed granting the request of Huab.

"The committee hearing was attended by the officials of the Foundation. We have no reason not to recommend the grant of exemption," said Militar, who chairs the council finance committee.

He, however, said the Foundation should remove their banners, streamers, and buntings immediately after August 31.

The celebration of the Kadayawan Festival runs from August 10 to 21. (BRQ)
