Villafuerte, during Tuesday's regular council session, submitted for first reading a resolution that will enact an ordinance requiring all administrators, owners and operators of public or privately owned markets to post in conspicuous places, the price list of basic commodities, including fish and meat products.

He said there are several private markets in the city supervised by administrators and public markets managed by the City Economic Enterprise.

"The buying public are entitled to information regarding the correct prices of basic commodities," Villafuerte said in his proposed ordinance.

Villafuerte, who chairs the City Council committee on government enterprises and privatization, said markets cater to the various needs of the buying publics.

He said the posting of price lists in wet markets will enable the buying public to assess and make comparisons as to the process of the commodities. (BRQ)
