Davao 11 grabs 3rd in nat'l open
DAVAO City failed to defend its crown and instead settled for third place after beating Cebu, 3-1, at the close of the 2006 PFF Senior Women's Open Championship in Dumaguete City Saturday.
Rachelle delos Reyes, Lomalyn Fama and Herlyn Mae Salmon scored the goals for the Shane Dasher-coached Davao team.
Davao failed to keep its title-retention bid after bowing to National Capital Region (NCR), 4-2, via a penalty shootout in the crossover semi-finals Friday.
NCR forced a 1-1 standoff at the end of regulation. Southeast Asian (SEA) Games campaigner Merlo Albano scored Davao's goal in the 60th minute.
Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte funded the team's trip to Dumaguete.
Jude Tajo, Genevieve Suyco, Vanessa Leonar, Keith Shelly Canton, Ellen Marturillas Cuizon, Michelle Alfeche, Lederine Dono, July Bunac, Leonor Satorre, Analou Ingles, Joeannie Del Rosario, Sheena santander and Jasper Joy Cabisong also bannered the team. (MLSA)
