UM routs DMMA 5
THE University of Mindanao (UM) Wildcats routed DMMA College of Southern Philippines, 102-47, in college division 1 of the Gaisano South Cup basketball tournament at the GS SkyGym Friday night.
Edgar Awitin was hailed best player of the game after he grabbed 24 points, five rebounds and one steal. He also issued two assists.
Teammates Alvin Calatayud added 22 while Fernando Eman and Francisco Lorejo scored identical nine points.
Joefrey Diaz topscored for DMMA with 15 points for the losing cause.
In division 2, the Mats College of Technology toyed with the hapless University of the Philippines Mindanao (UP Min), 115-54.
Jame Carson lifted Mats with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Thomas Collados, however, led scoring with 16.
Games were still ongoing as of Sunday in the cagefest sanctioned by the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP).
It also features a junior, mini, cadet and girls divisions. (MLSA)
