Illegal detention raps filed v. nanny
By Ben O. Tesiorna

SERIOUS illegal detention was filed against the nanny who abducted two children and brought them to Maragusan, Compostela Valley last week.

Marivic Limikid is accused of abducting Via Grace, 7, and Brylle Jun Imbo, 10, on August 17 just as the two children were coming out of their school in Royal Valley, Bangkal this city.

The neighbor who, Limikid said, planned the abduction was however not included in the charge.

Marivic earlier admitted that Alma, Imbo's neighbor, was the one who told her to abduct the kids so the Imbos would release her salary.

Talomo police chief Matthew Baccay, however, said they do not have sufficient evidence to include Alma in the charges.

In a telephone interview Wednesday, Grace, the kids' mother, said Alma went to their residence Tuesday denying any involvement in the abduction of her children.

"She (Alma) was crying as she insisted she did not have a hand in the abduction. It seems that she has since fled because I haven't seen her in the neighborhood since," Grace said.

The mother added that police are still investigating the incident including Alma and all the other neighbors who had contact with the suspect days before the abduction.

The children meanwhile have already attended their classes Wednesday.

Grace said her daughter has not recovered from the trauma.

"She still doesn't speak up in school and doesn't want me to leave her in school," Grace said.

Limikid claimed the Imbos withheld her wages, an allegation the Imbos denied because since she left their employ in the early part of this year, there has been no new agreement that she will be re-employed.

Limikid left the employment with the Imbos to work for another household in the neighborhood.

But last month, Limikid asked the Imbos anew to allow her to live with them after resigning from her work with another household in the neighborhood.

Grace said she allowed Limikid to stay with them but that there has never been an agreement that she will be employed again since Grace already has some relatives helping her in her household chores.
