2 major projects presented to investors in Date 2006

THE government will present two major projects to investors during the conduct of the Davao Trade Exhibit (Date) 2006 under the build and operate transfer (BOT) scheme.

Department of Trade and Industry-Davao City director Teolulo Pasawa, in an interview after the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City on Monday, said the two projects are the regional government center that would approximately need an area of 25 hectares and the regional trade and display center.

The display center will need a lesser area, he said.

"The University of the Philippines in Mindanao is finalizing the study and this will be the tool, which they would use for their presentation," Pasawa said.

The display center will also become the venue for trade exhibition and at the same time showcase the products of the region.

Pasawa said DTI's participation during the conduct of Date 2006 will be on the launching of the National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (Nerbac) and the conduct of Davao Trade and Investment Forum/WTO Forum.

The Nerbac under Republic Act 7470 aims to support the business community of their needs for information and other assistance to operate their enterprises profitability.

It envisioned shortening the time investors spend in transacting with government agencies by pooling all the agencies representatives involved in licensing and registration in one place.

While the processing of business registration and license are done in five days, Nerbac Davao will test its mechanism during the Date and cut the processing to only three days.

Meanwhile, the DCCCII, the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Science and Technology will take care of the holding of trainings and seminars to entrepreneurs to improve their businesses on September 15 from 1 to 5 p.m.

At a very affordable seminar fee, participants will have the opportunity to learn from topics such as: Marketing and Sales Strategies for Guaranteed Business Success, How to Launch a Business Successfully: An appreciation course on Entrepreneurship, Healthy living through Organic Product, Training on GAP, Training on Packaging and Nutrition Labeling for SMEs, Developing Food Safety Audit Team in the Work Place.

The seminar on Pig Genetics, Health and Nutrition will be offered free of charge by the British Embassy.
