24 Oras retains news supremacy
AS 24 ORAS remains the country's undisputed news leader, GMA Network's flagship newscast strives even harder to give to the Filipino viewers the brand of journalism that GMA News and Public Affairs has always been known for -- upholding the highest standards of ethics and journalism.
And undoubtedly, it is the viewers' unwavering trust in the newscast that has caused its unrivaled success in the ratings game.
Its competitor's challenge notwithstanding, 24 Oras is further solidifying its position as the country's leading and the viewers' most preferred newscast, according to the latest ratings data.
AGB-Nielsen Media Research data for Q1 and Q2 2006 show GMA's 24 Oras averaging a commanding 28.8 rating points versus its competitor's 23.3 for the first quarter of 2006 among Mega Manila households.
24 Oras further widened the gap on the succeeding quarter with a 27.1 to 19.6 rating points lead against its closest competitor.
Bannered by the most formidable and credible tandem in local broadcasting Saturday, veteran and award winning broadcast journalists Mike Enriquez and Mel Tiangco, together with the ever bubbly Pia Guanio, and beefed up by the country's most respected news team, 24 Oras has also beaten its rival newscast in Iloilo, Davao and Cebu, which were former strongholds of its competitor.
In Iloilo, 24 Oras posted a solid 41.4 rating points as compared to the competition's 32, based on the PSRC Day-After-Recall Survey for the fourth quarter of 2005. AGB-Nielsen Media Research data for December 2005 also show 24 Oras convincingly outperforming its competitor in both Davao (24.5 vs. 23.2) and Cebu (23.3 vs. 16.3).
Furthermore, GMA Network's local newscasts in the said regions have also stamped their class over their respective rivals.
