Rebels burn truck loaded with bananas

SUSPECTED New People's Army (NPA) rebels in Compostela Valley torched a truck loaded with bananas around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The truck owned by the Davao Trucking Incorporated was cruising along Barangay Linoan, Montevista, when it was flagged down by about 30 rebels led by Kumander Anton of Front Committee 33.

The rebels reportedly fired their firearms in the air prompting the truck driver identified as Eddie Gomez to stop.

The rebels then torched the truck.

Gomez was reported missing until Friday.

Latest report reaching Sun.Star, however, showed that Gomez already reported to their office Saturday.

Police are still investigating as to the motive behind the incident. (BOT with Peng Aliño)
