Gabi inks deal with GBP
ADD Diosdado "Prince" Gabi to the growing list of Oscar dela Hoya fighters.
The boxer from Davao City recently signed a multi-fight deal with Dela Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions in what was considered as career-boosting move.
Gabi's agreement with the GBP was announced by the Philboxing.com website.
The Davao boxer, who is now managed by famed trainer Freddie Roach, is aching to have another shot at the world boxing crown.
"I am now training harder and getting more focused in boxing. I am not thinking of too many things outside the ring unlike in the past and I am confident that my new manager and promoter will give me a chance to prove my worth," Gabi was quoted by the Philboxing.com as saying.
Golden Boy Promotions Inc. vice president and matchmaker Eric Gomez signed the deal with Gabi and Roach at the Golden Boy Promotions Inc. headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.
Roach described the dead as "very good."
Following his deal with GBP, Gabi is set to show his wares once again as he is scheduled to fight in the undercard of the Marco Antonio Barrera-Rocky Juarez rematch on Sept. 16 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Gabi is reportedly fighting in an eight-round bout.
