Trade, investment forum to focus on SMEs
THE upcoming forum on trade and investments will enable small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Davao Region get a wider perspective and knowledge on international business activities.
The activity, slated on September 16 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Convention Hall, is organized by the Department of Trade and Industry-National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (DTI-Nerbac) in line with its continuing thrust to promote the various business opportunities in the eight priority industry clusters in the Davao region, namely, mango, banana, coconut, seaweed, mining, wood, eco-tourism, and information and communications technology (ICT).
DTI Assistant Secretary Merly M. Cruz said with the line of topics that will be discussed by highly competent resource speakers, the forum will surely provide the participants with inputs on how to do business internationally and what are the financing facilities available for investors.
"SMEs, particularly those who are planning to venture into exporting their products, should be prepared on this aspect. And the forum will help them understand further the significance of various trade laws in the international market," she said.
Among the topics during the one-day activity will be the World Trade Organization (WTO) briefing to be given by the Bureau of International Trade Regulation (BITR) and WTO Commission; financing facilities for investors by the Bankers Association of The Philippines (BAP); importance of logistics to trade and industry development by the Philippine International Seafreight Foundation; and presentation of the Davao Region Industry Cluster.
DTI Undersecretary Carissa Cruz-Evangelista will be the keynote speaker of the forum.
