'24' airs 100th episode Tuesday
THE fifth season of 24, now airing on Studio 23 every Tuesday at 9:10 p.m., is a season of many firsts for the long-running hit show.
Not only it swept this year's Emmys, winning its first Best Drama Series award, as well as the first Best Actor statuette for star Kiefer Sutherland, but it also allowed 24 to mark a very special milestone in a series' life, as the show's 100th episode was produced in season 5.
Studio 23 will be airing this very special episode Tuesday night.
Being that it is 24, it's safe to assume that the show will not be trying out any special stunts to mark this milestone, which tends to happen with other shows that reach their hundredth.
It is generally considered a cause for celebration if a show reaches 100 episodes, since the show can now enter the lucrative syndication market.
But with a show as tightly plotted and serialized as 24, viewers can rest assured that the tension is still on full boil as tough guy Jack Bauer is forced to betray CTU after one of the terrorists holds his girlfriend's son Derek hostage.
Will Jack's message, which contains an antiquated CTU code term showing that the message-sender is under duress and may be lying, be correctly interpreted by CTU?
Or is he unwittingly setting his old colleagues up for a bloody ambush?
