Rotary bowlfest enters championship rounds
THE 20th Inter-Rotary Clubs Bowling Tournament enters championship rounds tonight with host club and defending champion Rotary Club of East Davao leading the six teams vying for honors in the prestigious Governor's Division.
Assistant governor Reizl Reyes said RC East collected a total of 5,956 pinfalls in the elimination rounds, followed by RC Digos South, RC Downtown, RC South Davao, RC Metropolitan and RC Calinan/Urban in that order to complete the contenders in the governor's division.
Teams, which placed seventh up to 12th will compete in the President's Division. They are RC Davao, RC Sta. Ana, RC Davao 2000, RC Digos, RC North Davao and RC Matina.
To play in the Fellowship Division are the teams who ranked 13th to 18th in the elimination games. They are RC Pag-asa/Durian, RC Central Davao, RC Davao Gulf, RC Toril, RC West Davao and RC Waling-waling.
The final games will be on Sunday at the NCCC Bowling Center.
AG Reyes also announced that the elimination rounds' highest team single was garnered by RC Davao with 840 pinfalls, highest team double by RC East Davao with 1,548.
Mito Aviles of RC Davao garnered highest individual single (men) with 221, while highest individual single (women) was taken by Tina Alovera of RC East Davao.
Aviles and Alovera also garnered highest individual double in men and women categories, respectively.
In billiard, the three teams qualified to go into the semifinals and finals on Sunday are RC East, RC Metropolitan Davao and RC Davao 2000, while in the dart tournament the qualifiers are RC Sta. Ana, RC North Davao, RC Digos and RC Davao Gulf.
Awarding of trophies will follow the games on Sunday. (AMA)
